Friday 19 March, 2010

Registration will be taking place on Friday 19 March at a rugby club near the base from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The address will be published very soon both here and on the Facebook event page. This is an opportunity to grab your T-shirts and get the paperwork done so there are no distractions on Saturday.

There will also be a volunteers and judges briefing at the same venue from 8:00 to 9:00 pm.

Saturday 20 March, 2010

We’ll be opening the doors at 8:00 and the first WOD will kick off at 9:00 am sharp. Please allow time to clear base security!

There will be 3 WOD’s taking place on the day with details of the third event only being released after the second WOD is complete.

With the competitors currently registered we expect to be finished by 6:00pm. To maximise the community building aspects of the event we will be having an after party at the same rugby club from 7:00 pm onwards.

Games' sectionals are back across the pond this weekend. Athletes from the United Kingdom and Ireland will converge on Mildenhall Air Force Base to try their hand at securing a spot for regionals. Last year Mikko Salo started his journey to Aromas as an unknown competitor in Europe, perhaps we'll get a first look at another dark horse.

Until the venue is under the control of the organizers, at 9pm Friday night, it will look more like a basketball court than a CrossFit proving ground. However with help from Concept 2, a local equipment manufacturer Beaverfit and an army of local affiliates the transformation will provide everything needed to test the capacities of athletes in the UK.

Event 1

3 rounds for time of:
5 Muscle-ups (5 chets-to-bar pull-ups for women)
15 GHD Sit-ups
25 Wall Balls (20/10lb 11 foot target)

Wall Ball - Crease of hip below the knee. The ball must make contact with wall or ceiling at top of movement
Double-unders - Only completed reps will count, failed attempts will not count - Bring your own jump rope, some ropes will be available.
Ground-to-Overhead - Barbell can move anyway from the floor to overhead (c&j, snatch, squat clean, split jerk...). Arms must be at full extension overhead with elbow in line over shoulder and both legs must be at full extension with feet reset under your body (no wider than shoulder width) before bar returns to the floor.
Toes-to-Bar - Toes, feet or shins must make contact with the bar at the top. Toes must travel behind the plane of the bar at the bottom of the movement
